Welcome to WR Junior!Working Ranch magazine is proud to introduce Working Ranch Junior, a place to share the stories and talents of our young American ranchers. I have had such a wonderful experience working with our first group of junior writers and photographers. They did a great job providing us with the content we needed to put this all together.
Ranching is a business that involves the whole family and we know you ranch kids work hard. We believe you are the ones best qualified to write about what you do. We want to see your experiences captured with your cameras and to hear your stories written in your words.
Working Ranch Junior is currently only scheduled to be printed once a year, but we need you to be on the lookout to take photos of the ranching lifestyle year-round. If you have something you would like to share, or have any questions or comments, contact me at christine@workingranchmag.com
Have a great summer!

What is it?
This is a closeup of something that livestock need, especially in hot weather. Scroll down to find the answer.
Tricky Bugs
In this issue of Working Ranch Junior, 12 year-old WRJ scientific investigator Katelin Spradley gives us an up close look at the blister beetle. This little critter can be dangerous to livestock and can cause painful blisters if you touch it. Their eggs hatch into tiny larvae that have some pretty good tricks up their sleeve to make sure they survive. Here is a video of them hitchhiking on the back of a bee. Unfortunately for her, they have deadly plans in store.
